My reflection: Forgiveness

Forgiveness is a central part of my life journey. After enduring captivity and pain, I learned that forgiveness isn’t a sign of weakness but of strength. Mervis (my wife) and I both understand that forgiveness sets us free from bitterness. If Mervis is ready to face criticism, she will do so with the same grace and forgiveness that has guided us, knowing that this reflects the love Christ shows to us. 

My reflection: Kindness 

In my experiences, kindness has been a powerful tool. No matter how others treated me, I have always believed in responding with humility and gentleness. Mervis embodies these qualities as well, and we both know that kindness is a choice even when faced with harsh words.

If Mervis is ready for criticism, she will meet it with patience and humility, knowing that her strength lies in God’s love for us.

My reflection: Faith 

My faith carried me through the darkest of times, even when the outcome was uncertain.

I’ve learned that faith is not about having all the answers but trusting in God’s plan.

Mervis, too, has this deep trust in the unseen. If she faces criticism, she will rely on her faith to guide her, confident that God’s hand is upon her life and our shared journey.

My reflection: Hope 

Hope was my lifeline during captivity and continues to fuel my purpose today. 

Mervis and I both know that true hope comes from God. When faced with criticism, 

Mervis will draw from this wellspring of hope, allowing it to bring her joy and peace, no matter what others may say. She will rise above criticism by anchoring herself in the unshakable hope God provides. 

My reflection: Resilience

My journey is one of resilience. Though I faced unimaginable pressure, I was never destroyed because God sustained me. Mervis and I stand together with the same strength. If she encounters criticism, she will not be crushed. Her resilience, rooted in her faith, will help her rise above the challenges.Together, we know that God never abandons us, even when we are struck down. 

My reflection: Forgiveness 

Forgiveness is a difficult but necessary act. 

After my own experience of captivity, I’ve come to deeply understand the power of forgiveness. 

Mervis shares this belief with me. If criticism comes her way, Mervis will be ready to forgive, knowing that it is not about the critics but about maintaining a pure heart before God. Together, we are committed to a life of forgiveness as a reflection of God’s forgiveness for us. 

My reflection: Hope and Resilience 

I have personally experienced the renewing power of God’s strength, and it has allowed me to soar beyond the challenges I’ve faced. Mervis and I hold onto this promise together. If she is ready to face criticism, she will do so with the knowledge that God’s strength will sustain her. 

No matter how difficult the road, she will not grow weary because she walks with the Lord, and in Him, she finds resilience.

My reflection: Love

Love has been the foundation of my life, especially in the most challenging times. This passage defines the love that Mervis and I strive to embody—not just in our relationship but in our interactions with everyone. True love is not conditional on circumstances or the behavior of others; it is enduring and selfless. When Mervis and I face criticism or adversity, we choose to respond with love. Love, as described in Corinthians, reminds us to be patient and kind, to protect and trust, and to always persevere. Our love, rooted in God’s example, will guide us through any storm, keeping us grounded in truth and compassion no matter what others may say.
